Department organizes seminars/conferences/ workshops once every year. Mostly they are sponsored by UGC and the University. Sometimes we received funds from other organizations like Raja Rammohon Roy Library Foundation.
The list of seminars organized by the department in the recent past as follows-
1. Two Days National Seminar on “Libraries for all: exploring the role of public libraries and information centers’ for sustainable development” was held on 7th - 8th March, 2019 in collaboration with RRRLF (Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
2. UGC Sponsored National Seminar on “BEST PRACTICES IN SCHOLARLY COMMUNICATUON & LIBRARY SERVICES”
was held on 22nd December, 2017. The Seminar co-ordinators were Dr. Ziaur Rahman and Smt. Snigdha Naskar. The Seminar Director was Dr. Sudip Ranjan Hatua. Professor Aditya Tripathi of Banaras Hindu University delivered the Key-Note Address. Professor Juran Krishna Sarkhel, Dr. Sneha Tripathi and other dignetaries were presented their papers.
3. UGC Sponsored National Seminar On ‘Towards Knowledge Society and role of academic libraries: problems and prospects’ was held on 17th March 2017. The Seminar co-ordinators were Dr. Ziaur Rahman and Smt. Snigdha Naskar. The Seminar Director was Dr. Sudip Ranjan Hatua. Dr. Bibhuti Bhushan Sahoo of Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar delivered Key note address. Professor Juran Krishna Sarkhel, Dr. Arun Kumar Chakraborty and other dignitaries were presented invited lectures.
4. UGC Sponsored a Daylong Seminar On “Towards Integrated MLISc Program and it’s Curriculum Designing: prospects and issues” was held on 2nd January, 2015. The Seminar co-coordinator and Director was Dr. Sudip Ranjan Hatua. The Key Note speech was delivered by Professor Amitabha Chatterjee. Professor Sidhartha Majumdar, Chairman, College Service Commission, W.B., Professor Subiresh Bhattacharyay, Chairman, School Service Commission, W.B and other dignitaries delivered their invited lectures.
5. UGC Sponsored a Daylong Seminar On “Library Services and Ranganathan” was held on 8th February 2013. The Seminar co-coordinator was Dr. Sudip Ranjan Hatua and Director was Sri Salil Chandra Khan. The Key Note speech was delivered by Sri Arun Ghosh, Formar Librarian, Centre for Social Sciences Dr Ramkrisha Saha former Chief Librarian, Jadavpur University and other dignitaries delivered their invited lectures.
6. UGC Sponsored a Daylong Seminar On “OPEN LIBRARY SYSTEM” was held on 21st March, 2012. The Seminar co-coordinator was Dr. Sudip Ranjan Hatua and Director was Sri Salil Chandra Khan. The Key Note speech was delivered by Prof. Pijush Kanti Panigrahi, Head, Dept. of Lib. & Inf. Sc. University of Calcutta General Secretary, IASLIC. Mr. Atin Nandi Assistant Librarian, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, Prof. Subal Chandra Biswas, Head, Dept. of LIS, Burdwan University and other dignitaries delivered their invited lectures
